About Us

Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children is a registered Non-Governmental and Not-For-Profit-Organization, founded in 1995 by a German Missionary called Mr. Burckhard M. Schweinberger. Burckhard had great empathy for Ugandan children, especially to those with physical disabilities. Many children came from rural areas, often completely neglected. This provoked him to begin an amazing project in a remote Parish called Namutamba.

We feel mandated to contribute to the uplifting of the standard of children with disabilities in Uganda. We plan to achieve this by complimenting to childhood disability prevention and rehabilitation efforts, with particular emphasis on promoting the welfare of children and youth with disabilities of 0-17 years.

A caring attitude, compassion and integrity are values that are embedded in our services, as given by ethical staff.

Currently, Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children is supported by the Neukirchener Mission, which gathers donations from Christians in Germany to cover the running costs.

Our Objectives:
To provide medical rehabilitation and appliances to children with disabilities.
To involve caretakers parents of children with disabilities in the rehabilitation process of their children.
To create awareness and responsiveness in communities as regards to people with disabilities.

Our Mission:

Empowering children with disabilities in the districts of Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga and Kyankwanzi to have equal opportunities for life through rehabilitation. Empowering in this context means: Ensuring that children with disabilities have the right combination of support and opportunity to exploit their own individual potential.
